Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the dimensions of living deprivation of rural elderly and to determine if there is causal relationship between the dimensions of living deprivation and farmland inheritance as well as life expectation. The dimensions of living deprivation were identified by factor analysis and the result was a three-factor solution. The causation effect was identified by logit and regression analysis and the results showed that the dimensions of living deprivation were stressed throughout showing that cause and effect relationship exists. The intention of farmland inheritance was significantly associated with the deprivation of health care and cultural life. Considering life expectation, gender, intention of farmland inheritance, and living deprivation were significant. Female and those with inheritance intention had low life expectation. The relative contribution of health care deprivation was higher than those of cultural life deprivation. Findings of this study have implications for health care policy and farmland annuity of rural elderly to improve their life expectation.
